Approach

Dad was a photographer, so there were always cameras around. On my eighth birthday he bought me my first one, a Polaroid, and I took to it like a duck to water. I have now been working at a professional level for the past seventeen years.

To hone my skills I spent several years assisting other photographers, shooting everything from fashion to large-scale industrial installations, which took me as far afield as North America and Eastern Europe. I also spent time assisting a master photographic printer in London who worked for David Bailey, Mario Testino, Rankin and Tom Stoddart.

After seeing my personal reportage work shot on the streets of Spain, Greece, New Zealand and Australia, a couple who are close friends asked me to photograph their wedding. I approached it the same intuitive way I still work today, and the result was a personalised picture story of their day. A Bath and Bristol wedding magazine ran the pictures in an editorial piece about the work, and that was the start.

The work has been published by the BBC, The Guardian, Guardian Motoring magazine, The Times Lifestyle magazine and You & Your Wedding. Weddings have taken me to 40/30 at the Gherkin, Babington House, Home House, 20 Portman Square, the Royal Horseguards Hotel, Westminster Cathedral, Inner Temple and the Royal Crescent Hotel.
